23: One Leg Up On Life


Christy is one of six Air Force pilots to return to the sky after an amputation and is the first female of the group. She lost her leg in a boating accident and discusses her amazing comeback story. She is also the founder of One Leg Up On Life Foundation which provides prosthetics to the poor in Haiti. In this episode:

Cancer is devastating at any age but especially for someone at 16 years old. Beating that cancer over a couple of years to only have it relapse back into your life is even more devastating. But what if the brutality of the cancer drugs that were concocted to save your life also led to the poisoning of your heart? Shae Brown beat cancer twice and then she was told that she needed a heart transplant. She survived all three and crossed the finish line of the Chicago Marathon side-by-side with her donor’s father. Sophia Danenberg is the first black woman and the first African American woman to summit Mount Everest successfully. She is a Harvard graduate, an avid climber, and has a successful career with Boeing. She shares her story on Everest and what it was like to find success on the tallest mountain in the world.
